LANHAM - Hailing Sen. Barack Obama's performance in Maryland as a victory that would help propel his own re-election, 4th District U.S. Rep. Albert Wynn moments ago arrived at his party in the IBEW building.
"I'm in his house," Wynn told the crowd of reporters as he embraced Charles E. "Chuck" Graham, business manager of IBEW Local 26.
Moments before retiring behind closed doors with Graham, the congressman said, "I predict I'll win."
"So do I," said Graham, who earlier in the evening said he believes his candidate would triump over challenger Donna Edwards by as many as 8,000 votes.
Wynn admitted it might be a late night with no clear victor at the end of it, an outcome that occured two years ago when he stared down Edwards in a squeaker that was only decided after recounts and a finetooth combing of absentee and provisional ballots.
While Wynn was momentarily exiting through the blur of camera flashes, Edwards spokesman Ben Gerdis, was over at the Raddison in Largo awaiting his candidate's appearance.
"We're starting to get early returns, but it's way too early to make a prediction," Gerdis said.
