Lt. Gov. Michael Steele wasn't all kid-gloves with Barack Obama last night.
Reading between the lines, with emphasis added:
It's about his understanding that associations do matter, and that America, though flawed, should not be damned for creating a place so many want to call home.
Obama landed in hot water earlier this year with the emergence of videos of his former pastor Jeremiah Wright declaring "God damn America" in a September, 2001 sermon.
The reference probably wasn't clear enough, judging by the sparse cheer.
