Palin a stranger to Maryland donors

In the three day period following John McCain’s announcement as Sarah Palin as his vice presidential running mate, the campaign raised a stunning $8 million.

Now, Maryland is a wealthy state, and among the top states for political contributions. Which is why it is somewhat surprising that Palin is such a stranger to state donors.

According to a Politicker review of Alaskan campaign finance records, only two Marylanders donated to Palin’s 2006 gubernatorial campaign for a grand total of $305.

Edward Schatz of Baltimore gave $50 and Jon DeVore, an attorney with an Anchorage law firm’s D.C. arm, gave $255.
