The Boston Globe delights in noting that House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer will meet with Iowa's delegation to the Democratic National Convention Committee in Denver this week, calling him one of the "2012 unhopefuls" (because the Democrats hope to win this year).
Doubtful if not downright absurd.
First of all, for his national leadership position, he is not too well known among voters. Second, those who do know him are turned off by his deal-making persona (read: 'capitulator'). And most importantly: he is old!
Steny will be 73 years old in 2012 (a year older than John McCain is now) and 77 in 2016.
