This morning, Tom LoBianco of the Washington Times floats the idea that the 1st District race may be beyond Frank Kratovil's reach.
He plays the gamut of the voting history and redistricting and also consults two of the major political soothsayers -- David Wasserman and Larry J. Sabato -- to confirm his suspicions.
Sayeth Sabato: "Let's see whether [Wayne] Gilchrest endorses the Democrat."
Sorry, Larry. No dice.
Gilchrest could actually be a detriment in appealing to crossover voters on this one. If people thought he was a moderate maverick before, as he's been skewing further from his party's line since losing the primary and may have lost some of his GOP credentials -- not to mention the goodwill of some who disliked his positions, but further disliked Andy Harris' campaign. He even sacrificed the high ground with his refusal to concede the election.
And it's not like he was that effective of an advocate for himself. Maybe he'll find new life as a Democratic-leaning independent, but that's a big maybe.
Kratovil is not finished in this race, yet, and if he were, Gilchrest would not be the deciding factor. We'll know how competitive the finish will be about mid-October, when Kratovil's third quarter finance reports are released and the final batch of registrations is released.

Where did Harris trash
Where did Harris trash Gilchrest's family? Man the rumor-mongering has gone wild. I thought O'Malley, err um I mean Kratovil's people didn't do that?
The bottom line as another poster pointed out is Frank Kratovil saying "I will go to Washington to be an ally of Martin O'Malley." That statement is so incongruent with the Shore, even Maryland as a whole right now, that how anyone could vote for him is beyond me. I guess you always the liberal loyalists, but c'mon, O'Malley's ally?
I mean what is O'Malley's legacy? O'Malley passed the largest tax hike in Maryland history. O'Malley's hand-picked PSC rubber-stamped the massive BGE rate hikes. O'Malley is trying to abolish the death penalty. Tons of shady land deals in Queen Anne's County. O'Malley has just been a real disappointment for everyone who voted for him.

If I were a betting man,
If I were a betting man, here is what I'd bet about shoreman:
1) white male
2) little or no college
3) addicted to internet pornography, the type of which would shock and stupefy even the most experienced pychologists
4) a big beer gut
5) listens to A LOT of talk radio
You're right...it us vs.
You're right...it us vs. them. The survival of the individual and their rights, or an increasing socialist system that destroys the rights of the individual. Me? I'll take the first one!
the self branded
the self branded "conservative" movement; helped along by the intellectual might of limbaugh, hannity, coulter, et. al love to label everything. as if the world could be categorized in just two categories: "us" vs. "them." wow. you rely on fear, like inventing bogeymen like "terrorists" and "enviro whackos" and grand conspiracy theories about all manner of things. all i can say is this: the next decade will be an important one and will set the stage for the rest of the twenty first century. you want a simple rule? here's one. anybody who thinks in two dimensions about our complex world should be blamed for continuing misery, oppression, and suffering.
Sounds like the only one who
Sounds like the only one who has "pent up rage" around here is you.
This was a well written, factual article by LoBianco. Wayne will jst look like a sore loser if he endorses State's Attorney Frankie. I gues we will just have to thorw him onto the already large laundry list of liberals that are supporting him.
"I'll be an ally of the Governor [O'Malley] in Washington" - Frank Kratovil
Harris trying to make nice?
Harris trying to make nice? What country are you from? Harris trashed Gilchrest and his family too. Gilchrest has my respect for sticking to his guns. Screw Harris. He's just another homophobic family values talkin' latent homesexual republican who has so much pent up rage from supressing his true feelings that he'd do anything to spend one day being true to himself. ANYTHING.
And that swill sway the
And that swill sway the election? give me a break. I thought Wayne was a good guy until he refused to take Harris' calls when Harris was trying to make nice. He's just a sore loser.
