This afternoon, Sen. Barbara Mikulski, one of Sen. Hillary Clinton's staunchest supporters, offered some thoughts on the developments in the presidential race.
She says she spoke with both Senators Clinton and Barack Obama today, and "told them how proud I am of their campaigns." Although her candidate remains in the race, she acknowledges the Illinois Senator's clinch of the delegates needed for nomination, saying, "Today is truly a historic day. Senator Obama and his supporters should be very proud."
But she insists Clinton should be granted the time to decide her next moves, as the New Yorker requested last night in her speech.
In all, Mikulski says, "The true victor in this primary has been democracy."
"We have seen record turnout and a spirited campaign and debate. I will absolutely work for the Democratic nominee, and within the next few weeks expect that we will all be united. No matter what, we are all together in support of a Democratic agenda for change."

Mikulski - Clinton
Mikulsti needs to understand times have changed - it's now time for "change to believe in." Her prognosis "we all be united" is delusional. Sen. Clinton's strong supporters reject the old-fashioned dismissal to accept and fall in line.
The Democratic Party is hopelessly corrupt and rigged. It is amazing that superdelegates continue to show no integrity in irresponsibly endorsing Obama. The Democratic Party does not deserve Sen. Clinton, and she should run as an Independent candidate. For many Hillary Clinton supporters, Obama/Clinton is difficult to stomach and vote for.
The superdelegates have failed in their responsibility to endorse Sen. Clinton as the best qualified and the strongest candidate to win the general election in a landslide victory hands down.
In repudiation of the superdelegates, Hillary Clinton supporters should vote for McCain and work for Obama's resounding defeat in November. I will volunteer and vote for McCain in a swing state. A crushing defeat is a clear rejection of a corrupt and rigged Democratic Party.
