Conversation starter: Miller 2010 in jeopardy?

After coming to terms with the idea that state Senate President Mike Miller (D-Chesapeake Beach) would be in power well into the next decade, this past week's press swarm over influence-peddling his son's judicial nomination has raised the eyebrows of ambitious Democratic lawmakers.

The resignations on the Anne Arundel Judicial Nominating Commission have these passive-agressive legislators -- who'll only privately admit they'd like to see someone else take a turn at lording over the comings and goings in Annapolis -- wondering whether this will push Miller to not seek re-election in 2010.

Miller has still not committed himself one way or the other. Will he give any indication at his June 4 fundraisier? Or is this scandal just a blip on the screen?

He has been through worse.
