Quickie on convention delegate happenings

Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John Edwards, Bill Richardson, and Joe Biden have designated their Maryland delegates to the Democratic National Convention.

Dennis Kucinich has authorized only one convention delegate: biennial Van Hollen primary challenger Deborah Vollmer.

Among Republicans, Ron Paul is so far the only candidate to have authorized his Maryland district delegates to the GOP convention.

Obama, Edwards lead in Baltimore Democratic Club Straw Poll

Baltimore Co. Straw Poll: Campaign representatives Luis Zapata (Kucinich), Sen. James Brochin (Obama), Hunter Pruette (Edwards), Sandra  Bisbey (Richardson), Meg Ferguson (Clinton), Tyler Cymet, D.O. (Biden), Alex Colvin  (Gravel).Baltimore Co. Straw Poll: Campaign representatives Luis Zapata (Kucinich), Sen. (Biden), Alex Colvin (Gravel).Illinois Senator Barack Obama was the top choice of attendees at the Central Baltimore County Democratic Club Presidential Forum and Straw Poll Saturday night.

Obama was the choice of 29% of the voters at the event, narrowly edging out former North Carolina Senator John Edwards who received 27%. New York Senator Hillary Clinton picked up 16%. Trailing: Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich at 13%, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson at 9%, and Delaware Senator Joe Biden at 4%.

More presidential candidates file

Joining their colleagues on the February 12th Maryland ballot, Democratic presidential contestants U.S. Senator Joe Biden, Governor Bill Richardson, Rep. Dennis Kucinich, and former Senator Mike Gravel have now filed their certificates of candidacy.

Now also on the Republican side are former Mayor Rudy Giuliani, former Senator Fred Thompson, Congressmen Ron Paul and Tom Tancredo.
