Will MCEA backing help Berthiaume?

MCEA's "apple ballot" logoMCEA's "apple ballot" logoLaura Berthiaume has gotten the endorsement of the Montgomery County Education Association in her challenge for a seat on the county's Board of Education, but the incumbent says it won't help very much.

Stephen Abrams, who currently holds the district 2 seat, said an MCEA endorsement only helps when neither candidate has high name recognition.

Berthiaume, Abrams spar over parents role in county schools

The role parents play in Montgomery County's schools is the talk of the Board of Education race between Laura Berthiaume and Stephen Abrams.

Berthiaume, the challenger, said there are some real communication problems in the public school system. There's a lack of respectful listening, she said, and many parents "don't get a seat at the table."
