Ron Paul to visit Free State

Ron Paul (R-Texas) will publicly endorse Maryland's Republican candidates for U.S. House at a fundraiser on Thursday.

Each candidate has been invited to speak at the rally. Richard Matthews (MD-2), Peter James (MD-4), Collins Bailey (MD-5) and Mike Hargadon (MD-7) have all confirmed.

Will Ehrlich run again? Maybe, but he's fundraising already

REISTERSTOWN -- Bob Ehrlich remains undecided about a possible rematch against Gov. Martin O'Malley in 2010. His supporters, however, aren't waiting.

At a Corn Roast this weekend -- designed to add cash to the Bob Ehrlich for Maryland Committee -- the one-term governor shook hands with supporters, took pictures, chatted with old friends and even signed a young girl's cast. Hundreds of Ehrlich's Republican counterparts attended the annual fundraiser hosted by Tom and Jone Reynolds at their Reisterstown farm.

While some supporters at the event had no clue if the former governor would make a second bid, many were just hopeful, while others seemed certain.

MD delegation 7-1 on revised bailout legislation

The Maryland Congressional delegation voted 7 to 1 on Friday in favor of a revised economic recovery bill.

The U.S. Senate added provisions and voted on an updated rescue bill Wednesday, after the U.S. House failed to pass a $700 billion bailout package for the financial sector on Monday.

Congress passed the revised bill on Friday 263 to 171.

Web ad: Gaztanaga ties Ruppersberger to Bush

In a new web video, Libertarian candidate Lorenzo Gaztanaga is attacking U.S. Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger's (D-Baltimore) vote in favor of Monday's controversial bailout plan.

"Dutch Ruppersberger supported George Bush's war in Iraq, supported George Bush's Patriot Act. Now, Dutch Ruppersberger voted for George Bush's bailouts," says a narrator in the Gaztanaga video. "Don't we want a representative in office that thinks?"

Matthew's campaign manager dead at 29

Patrick CitroniPatrick CitroniThe campaign manager of Republican Richard Matthews died Thursday morning in a motorcycle accident.

The 2nd Congressional District hopeful learned of Patrick J. Citroni's death just 90 minutes before a forum Thursday evening sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Harford County.

But Matthews decided to go through with the debate anyway.

Matthews raised $5K in 2Q, $2.5K cash on hand

Republican Richard Matthews, who is currently challenging U.S. Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger (D-Baltimore) in MD-2, reported raising $5,310 in the second quarter and has $2527.41 cash on hand according to Federal Election Commission reports

Matthews has received $6,265 in total contributions to date for this election.

Matthews, a computer systems engineer, is competing for Maryland’s 2nd Congressional District seat, which Ruppersberger has held since 2002

Dutch Ruppersberger (D-Baltimore), who currently holds Maryland’s 2nd Congressional District seat, reported raising $187,326.96 in the second fundraising quarter and has $760,358.79 cash on hand according to Federal Election Commission reports.

Ruppersberger has received $898,161.46 total contributions to date for this election.

Records for his opponent, Republican Richard Matthews were not available. Ruppersberger was first elected in 2002 to the MD-2 seat.
