Mary Monahan

The Baltimore Sun has the details of today's deposition of General Assembly Chief Clerk Mary Monahan by Republican legislators in their lawsuit to overturn the Special Session legislation package.

Attorney General Doug Gansler's spokesperson Raquel Guillory told the Sun that Monahan's four-hour interrogation was "pointless, useless and grueling" and did not reveal any wrongdoing by anyone. Republicans said it "produced persuasive evidence" of the Democrats' misdeeds.

At issue is a requirement of the Maryland Constitution that either chamber of the legislature get approval from the other before adjourning for more than three days, which is disputed to have occurred during the Special Session.
