Post: Duncan leaves UMD for government advisory firm

Former Montgomery County Executive Douglas Duncan (D) resigned from the University of Maryland in College Park on Wednesday to join a government advisory firm, according to The Washington Post.

Duncan served as the university's chief administrative and finance officer for 17 months and will be joining CivicUS as a co-founder and senior vice president for research and business development, reports the Post.

Duncan found himself at the center of controversy last month when he claimed one of the university's lobbyists -- former state Sen. P.J. Hogan (D-Montgomery County) -- gave him a direct order from the governor not to attend a forum with former Gov. Bob Ehrlich (R-Baltimore).

Citroni's last fundraiser

COLLEGE PARK -- Patrick Citroni held his last campaign event on Thursday, though he wasn't alive to see it. The former campaign manager of Republican Richard Matthews was killed last month in a motorcycle accident at age 29.

But before his death, Citroni began organizing what would be his last and perhaps most relevant event to highlight his legacy - a fundraiser featuring Ron Paul and his Campaign for Liberty PAC.

"He did all the initial prep work," Matthews told PolitickerMD.com during a VIP reception for Ron Paul on Thursday. "He got this event going." Citroni's family, including his father who began the rally with a speech, attended the event as well.

Ron Paul endorses five GOP candidates

Ron Paul (R-Texas) dropped into Maryland Thursday to show his support for five of Maryland's Republican Congressional candidates. The event -- designed to raise cash for the candidates' campaigns -- was held at the Comcast Center at the University of Maryland in College Park.

Paul, who made an unsuccessful bid for president in 2008, says a lot of enthusiasm resulted from the campaign.

Ron Paul to visit Free State

Ron Paul (R-Texas) will publicly endorse Maryland's Republican candidates for U.S. House at a fundraiser on Thursday.

Each candidate has been invited to speak at the rally. Richard Matthews (MD-2), Peter James (MD-4), Collins Bailey (MD-5) and Mike Hargadon (MD-7) have all confirmed.
