Burns-pourri for September

Falling into another month, a quick hit of highlights gone by or highlights to be endeavored.  In any event, here we go for another helping of Burns-pourri.

Jackson Still Must Resign
First things first, as a public service to common sense, I am going to continue making the call for the resignation of Prince George’s County Sheriff Michael A. Jackson.  I am not going to rehash all that he has done this time, including releasing the internal review of the botched police operation on the home of Berwyn Heights Mayor Cheye Calvo clearing his SWAT team to counter the examination of Calvo’s dogs by the state Agriculture department showing that each dog was shot two times.  By the way, Calvo paid for those necropsies performed on the carcasses.

Calvo spoke at the CATO Institute last month and the video of his account of what happened was posted to YouTube last week.  I have it on my website, marylandpolitics.us.  Jackson’s actions, let alone the actions of those involved, are unacceptable.  I am still calling publicly for his resignation and his apology to Calvo and his family.  I will also continue to call for it as long as Jackson is in office.

Let's be honest, he did go up to the Mount of Invesco to tell it on the mountain ...so to speak.

High AND Jackson must go!

If you have been reading my blog, Maryland Politics Today or the blog where I am a contributor, Red Maryland, then you know what will be happening in the ensuing paragraphs. However, I think it is important to recap the events that happened that drove us to this point according to news accounts.

On Tuesday, July 29, the home of Cheye Calvo, the mayor of Berwyn Heights in Prince George’s County, was raided by the county sheriff’s SWAT team and narcotics police officers. Prior to the raid, police posing as deliverymen delivered a package to the home addressed to Calvo’s wife, Trinity Tomsic. Calvo’s mother-in-law, Georgia Porter, was instructed to leave the package on the porch.

Target practice for Prince George's police

You've probably already heard about the incident involving the Prince George's county police department raiding the home of Berwyn Heights mayor Cheye Calvo, shooting and killing his two dogs after he brought in a 32-pound package of marijuana that had been delivered to his doorstep.
