Ruppersberger raised $90K in 3Q, Matthews $3K

U.S. Rep. C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger (D-Baltimore), who represents Maryland's 2nd Congressional District, reported $89,879.00 in total contributions in the third financial quarter and has $789,546.27 cash on hand, according to documents filed with the Federal Election Commission.

His opponent, Republican Richard Matthews, reported $2,783.50 in total contributions in the 3rd quarter and has $1,702.04 cash on hand, according to documents filed with the Federal Election Commission.

MD delegation 7-1 on revised bailout legislation

The Maryland Congressional delegation voted 7 to 1 on Friday in favor of a revised economic recovery bill.

The U.S. Senate added provisions and voted on an updated rescue bill Wednesday, after the U.S. House failed to pass a $700 billion bailout package for the financial sector on Monday.

Congress passed the revised bill on Friday 263 to 171.

Web ad: Gaztanaga ties Ruppersberger to Bush

In a new web video, Libertarian candidate Lorenzo Gaztanaga is attacking U.S. Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger's (D-Baltimore) vote in favor of Monday's controversial bailout plan.

"Dutch Ruppersberger supported George Bush's war in Iraq, supported George Bush's Patriot Act. Now, Dutch Ruppersberger voted for George Bush's bailouts," says a narrator in the Gaztanaga video. "Don't we want a representative in office that thinks?"

McCain suspends, but not MD reps

John McCain: Getty Images PhotoJohn McCain: Getty Images PhotoFollowing John McCain's temporary suspension of his presidential campaign, Maryland's congressional leaders aren't ditching their campaigns just yet, but insist they aren't ignoring their duties in Congress either.

Heather Molino, a spokeswoman for U.S. Rep. C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger (D-Baltimore), said the campaign had not officially been suspended. She didn't, however, rule out the idea completely and pointed to Ruppersberger's philosophy: "The best way you can campaign is to do your job and do it well."

Lisa Wright, a spokeswoman for U.S. Rep. Roscoe Bartlett (R-Frederick), said the congressman's priority is his Congressional job. She went on to reject criticisms that Bartlett wasn't appearing at enough debates or forums against his 6th Congressional District opponent Jennifer Dougherty (D-Frederick).

Matthew's campaign manager dead at 29

Patrick CitroniPatrick CitroniThe campaign manager of Republican Richard Matthews died Thursday morning in a motorcycle accident.

The 2nd Congressional District hopeful learned of Patrick J. Citroni's death just 90 minutes before a forum Thursday evening sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Harford County.

But Matthews decided to go through with the debate anyway.
