Robinson: 'Losing is not an option'

DENVER – State Del. Barbara Robinson (D-Baltimore) says she "absolutely" has begun her campaign for 2010.

"You have to start early because during session...you aren't allowed to campaign," Robinson told PolitickerMD.com. In fact, she will be holding a fundraiser as early as next month.

Robinson is sticking to the same philosophy she had last election: "Losing is not an option."

Robinson touted her ability to address the needs of small business, women in business, and the disadvantaged. She says she understands the "ills of not succeeding," which is one reason she supports presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama. "I've been there done that," she said.

She says people realize "If he can get up there and do that than my children's children's children can do that."

"It sounds like rhetoric buts its really not," she added.

Equality Maryland released its 2008 legislative scorecard recently, which ranks state Senators and state Delegates from both parties on their votes and involvement with three separate gay-rights bills.

Carrie Evans, the group's policy director, said the scorecard is not only a "tool for constituents," but is "a factor in who we choose to endorse." Evans added that the organization could also provide "bodies and volunteers" to help unseat incumbents.
