Obama touts diversity with Maryland delegate slate

This morning, Barack Obama's presidential campaign released the names of its candidates for delegate to the Democratic National Convention, a full slate that includes 27 women, 15 candidates under age 35 and several elected officials.

Elected officials running as convention delegates for Obama are state Senators Nate McFadden, Nathaniel Exum, Verna Jones, Lisa Gladden, and Jamie Raskin; Delegates Curt Anderson, Sue Kullen, Brian Feldman, Justin Ross, Jolene Ivey and Cheryl Glen; Baltimore City Councilmember Helen Holton, Queen Anne's Commissioner Gene Ransom, Howard Councilmember Jen Terresa, Cheverly Councilmember Micah Watson, College Park Councilmember Mark Cook and Easton Councilmember Moonyene Jackson-Amis.

Attorney General Doug Gansler said, "The incredible number of committed volunteers has made the selection of delegates a difficult task."

"This group represents the vast diversity of support for the campaign and we look forward to leading them as we work to ensure a victory in 2008."
