Marylanders top nation's best-funded primary challenges

Greg Giroux of CQPolitics notes that three of the best-funded primary challengers in the country will see how their heavy warchests pay off this Tuesday in Maryland.

Raising $1.1 million – First District Republican Andy Harris has pulled in the most donations of any would-be incumbent-slayer in America. He’s followed by the Fourth District’s Donna Edwards in second with $655,000 and fellow Gilchrest-challenger E.J. Pipkin at fourth with $601,000.

And all this doesn’t even count the independent expenditures being spent on their behalf.

The number 3 primary fund-phenom was Illinois Democrat Mark Pera. He challenged Rep. Dan Lipinski in that state’s Third District, but lost badly this past Tuesday.
