Glendening: Obama will provide ‘fundamental change’

Former Gov. Parris GlendeningFormer Gov. Parris GlendeningFormer Gov. Parris Glendening, who was selected Saturday by the state Democratic Central Committee as an unpledged ad-on delegate to the Democratic National Convention, discussed his decision to endorse Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) during an interview today with PolitickerMD.com.

"I believe Sen. Obama is the strongest candidate in November and will be a great president," Glendening said.

Glendening, who initially supported New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, said he has been "very excited and enthusiastic" about the Obama campaign for some time, but decided to "wait until the (delegation) appointment process was over" before endorsing.

"I do not have anything against Sen. Clinton," Glendening said. "I just think Obama would provide the fundamental change we need."

Glendening said Obama would act in a more vigorous manner than Clinton on issues like climate change, health care, and increased public transportation availability.

The central committee finalized the remaining 24 pledged delegates over the weekend, along with the two un-pledged ad-on delegates and four pledged at-large alternates. Former Lt. Gov. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, a supporter of Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y) was the other ad-on.

Glendening said the state's Democratic delegation provides a "good balance" between Obama and Clinton that "reflects the fact that Sen. Obama won the state comfortably."

He said the process was done in a very "harmonious" manner between the two campaigns.

On a personal level, Glendening said he was very "pleased" to be attending the convention, saying he has been to every Democratic gathering since Walter Mondale was nominated in 1984.

Political Chum

Sen.Obama will be another great success like Pres. Carter was on the world stage/boxing ring. He has NO political fighting experience and his touchy-feely empty platitudes will embolden every hardened world leader & political player to take a chunk out of America. A feeding frenzy like sharks to a wounded fish is what's in store for us. This country must deal with all the threats and self interests of the rest of the world - economic, social and military (including terrorism. "Countries don't have friends; only self interests" is an old axiom, but rings true. To think the Jr. Senator of 2 years, Obama, has the wherewithal to deal effectively outside this country and deliver productively is incredibly naive. I'll take a ruthless, shrewd, manipulator and player like Hilary any day when the job description calls for it. Besides, he is not a proponent of our founding father's priciples and capitalistic system. Socialism is non-motivating and counter-productive. It sure hasn't built any successful country or system that gives true opportunity to all individuals. That's why people still risk their lives to leave other countries and their systems to come here. "Change" doesn't correlate directly to improvement as people blindly assume. We need to re-enforce our strengths as a people in a system that has endured and served us better than any other nation. 232 years and still the model. Use your platitudes in domesticity if you must, but don't be a naive hugger on the world stage. Look at the greatness and legacy Mr. Glendening brought to this state and let's all praise his judgment and insight...

Our Greatgrand Nation

Dear Fellow Americans,

Our Great-grand Nation, the United States of America
is and will face very critical and substantial
"Challenges" in coming,
months, years, and decades to come.
It is very essential that we pick out our next
President on following criteria in mind.

1. A candidate with "Vision and Mission".

2. A candidate with " Stable Character and Integrity"
.

3. A candidate with "Presidential Temperament" and
"stable Judgment".

4. A candidate with "little "Washington" exposure"
and
"real connectedness with New Voters".

5. A candidate who "Inspires us up" rather than
"Tears us down".

6. A candidate not based on sexism, racism, and
ageism.

In my professional and personal opinion, the only
candidate who has the above qualities and
characteristics and is also cool, calm, and collected
is Senator Obama.

As an independent registered voter since 1980. I voted
for Carter, voted for Reagan, voted for First Bush,
and second Bush in 2000 and In the process last
interest in Washington politics as usual and I
stopped voting. Not a good idea under any circumstance
particularly at present.

This time we can not afford to stay on side lines and
let Washington stay the same.We can not afford our
Greatgreat Nation to become less than what we are and
can be.

We need to send clear and candid message to the world
and some 24 hour partisan hateful media. These media
outlets are trying to deprive, dupe, and derail us
from getting it right this time.

They are trying there best to deny us better rather
than bitter future. { Our Greatgrand Nations people
are persistently and constantly subjected to
Psychological terrorism" without their knowledge thru
these hateful partisan media outlets.

We Americans are should not and would not to allow
them
psychologically terrorized, traumatized and silence us
this time.

I am sure that we will get it right this
time and elect Senator Obama our next President. let
us not get dragged down into racism, sexism and
ageism.

Let us remember that our Greatgrand is constituted of
family, friends,fellowships, faith, funds,foundation,
fun, and future with fairness and freedom and without
fear or favor.

We can not afford to lose any of above. Let us stand
up, be counted, save, build our Greatgrand Nation for
centuries to come and regain our world economic, and
power status back.

God Bless our Great grand Nation and its diverse
people.

Our Greatgrand nation needs present and future
stability, security, safety,sustained progress and
restoration of our due status in this perilous Global
World at the all levels.

Yours sincerely,

Thank you

I'm so very, very thankful for those of us that are able to see beyond the smoke screen. Sen. Obama is the strongest, and honest one of the 3 candidates. I rather have respect, truth and honesty to represent this country and bring us out of the hole that we are in. Sen. Obama will lead this country in the right direction.
