Can we all be adults here?

OK, time for your ol’ Uncle Kenny to take everyone to the woodshed. It is time for everyone to grow up and get over it. Be prepared, no one will be happy at the end of this piece.

First I want to address this elitism tag being thrown around by the Democrats and Republicans. If anyone was reading Free State Politics this past weekend, you might have read my responses to a couple of posts Eric Luedtke wrote in regards to the number of houses owned by presumptive Republican Presidential nominee Sen. John McCain along with the car he drives. Here is the cliff notes version of my part of this conversation, who cares?

Seriously, who cares? I also don’t bring up the fact that the McCain camp is labeling presumptive Democratic Presidential Nominee Sen. Barack Obama an elitist. Why? I do not care, that’s why. We are talking about two men who can buy and sell each of us many times over. I say with no shame that the last four years of Congress were worthless. The greatest accomplishment over the period was the economic stimulus plan and the unnecessary fencing of the United States.

I will talk about issues that matter like the war, the economy and other items that affect our lives, our state and our country, those who care can focus on doing the player-hating version of ‘Cribs.’ I don’t care and that’s why I do not bring it up. We have two wars going on and an economy that is struggling currently and instead of focusing on how to best handle the situation, people are concentrating on trivial crap. Forgive me if I am not taking part in such things.

Another item I want to address is the fact that the hard leaning bases of both parties are not happy with their presumptive nominees. Get over it. First to the Democrats, since they are in the limelight this week, Hillary lost. Obama (D-Ill.) simply ran a better campaign and appealed to his party more than Sen. Clinton (D-N.Y.). Hillary is putting her best poker face on and trying to unite the party, but she realizes that she lost fair and square.

Now to the Republicans, McCain (R-Ariz.) is your nominee. Get over it. Particularly to the hard right-wingers, stop going around and saying “I’m going to hold my nose and vote for McCain.” He won the nomination of his party fair and square. If you wanted a more conservative candidate, you should have given better support to the guy that many of you wanted, Fred Dalton Thompson. Truth be told, I didn’t think that Fred was interested in the job anyway.

Both hard-core Liberals and Conservatives need to realize that people who are president these days are more centric than anything. As a matter of fact, read this very carefully, America is not happy with either of you. They are not happy with the hard-core conservatives, thanks to the likes of Tom DeLay and others who seemed to have check edtheir ethics at the door. The hard-core liberals are in the doghouse for their welching on their promise to do everything in their power to yank the troops out of Iraq in a nanosecond and subsequently voting to put more money to the war in Iraq. So please stop complaining about your party’s nominees. As Jim Rome would say “Scoreboard. Look at it. Recognize it. Deal with it.”

Finally, get over the fact that Obama’s middle name is Hussein. I can understand that people disagree with Obama, I disagree with Obama as evidenced by my piece from last week. But I am not going to say his full name. I am sure when Mr. Obama was born and named after his father, his parents were not planning on the fact that some guy with a similar name was trying to be the next Hitler. You know, Saddam Hussein, we yanked him out of the rabbit hole a little over four years ago.

Stop trying to evoke that Obama is a terrorist by using his middle name when you speak of him, stop trying to say that he was not born in America and stop saying that he is really a Muslim. He is not a Muslim and he is born in America. Please do not talk about the birth certificate. It was stupid for his campaign to put it online to begin with. Oh and by the way, I think Jerome Corsi is a nut job. There I said it.

This election is too important for people to act like children. The only thing different about this election is that a Black man with legitimacy as far as not being a poverty pimp is running and he has an African name. Election Day is a stone’s throw away and we need to sit down and legitimately discuss the issues that the first President with no ties to a previous administration will have to deal with. We have no time to debate houses, cars, birth certificates or middle names.

If you don’t like the candidates of your respective parties, fine. Let this be a lesson for you to get off of your duffs and take part in the electoral process. If you don’t like what I said, that’s fine too because this is America. Besides, I told you that you would not be happy reading this.
