Gov. Tim Kaine (D-Virginia): NGA PhotoDue to a "scheduling problem," PolitickerMD.com has learned that Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine will not attend tomorrow night's Unity '08 Fundraiser for the Maryland Democratic State Central Committee as previously planned.
The State Democratic Party learned of Kaine's cancellation earlier today.
Kaine's appearance at the Baltimore event was announced on July 11, just as speculation over his vice presidential prospects were ramping up. Some believed he would be in a secret meeting with presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama earlier today, but Kaine has insisted otherwise.
Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, Washington, D.C., Mayor Adrian Fenty, along with Gov. Martin O'Malley, the Democratic congressional delegation and state legislative leaders are still slated to attend the event at the Iguana Cantina. Over a thousand people are expected, with admission starting at $50.

Obama's Moment...
On Wednesday, October 14, 2008, the eyes of the world were fixed on Hempstead, New York and the third and final U.S. Presidential Debate. Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois entered the arena with an eight-point lead according to an average of national polls as compiled by CNN, and it appeared that he was content to sit on that lead. Sen. John McCain of Arizona took advantage of Obama’s laurel resting and brought the fight to him regarding the younger candidate’s policies, judgment and qualities of character. When Obama did adopt a more critical stance regarding the economic policies of the past eight years, McCain was quick to point out that he is “not President Bush.” He stated that he would enact an “across the board spending freeze,” take a hatchet to some programs and use a scalpel on the remainder once the dust settled. Obama’s stance sounded more conservative; he would “go through the federal budget page by page, line by line” in order to close programs that aren’t working as they should. Both candidates claim their economic plans will bring needed change to a broken America, but will it leave consumers with the ability to choose where and when they’ll have access to payday loans? That remains to be seen. Just because Americans see themselves as living in “the land of the free” doesn’t mean that interest groups (i.e. banks and credit unions) want them to have the freedom to choose.Post Courtesy of Personal Money StoreProfessional Blogging TeamFeed Back: 1-866-641-3406Home: http://personalmoneystore.com/NoFaxPaydayLoans.htmlBlog: http://personalmoneystore.com/moneyblog
House Bill....
Ohio’s Governor, Ted Strickland, is on a movement to convince the people in his state to vote in favor of House Bill 545. Despite the voice of the people earlier this year, this bill would put a cap on annual interest rates that no fax payday loan lenders can charge up to 36 percent. For every $100 that a lender issues to a customer, they make a pitiful dollar and some change. That means there would be no money-making in this industry at all and House Bill 545 will drive the entire industry out of the state. In addition to that, Democratic presidential candidate, Barack Obama, is also supporting this action. Obama has gone record stating that if he does win the White House, he will follow through with his wishes to impose Strickland’s interest rate cap nationally. In return, what alternative will the offer the people when they are stuck trying to make ends meet? Hitting rock bottom is almost inevitable. This expresses the importance of having your voice heard.

Gov. of Ohio....
Ted Strickland, the Governor of Ohio, is in the process of trying to convince people in his state to vote in favor of House Bill 545. Enacted unethically, without the voice of the people earlier this year, support of the bill would put a cap on the annual interest rates that no fax payday loan companies can charge to 36 percent. This would mean that for every $100 that a lender issues to a customer, they can only make a measly dollar and change. Considering that no business can survive by making just over a dollar per transaction, House Bill 545 would drive this entire industry out of the state. What’s worse, is that democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama now is trying to do Strickland one better, as per his campaign promises. Should he win the White House, Obama has gone on record stating that he wishes to impose Strickland’s interest rate cap nationally. What this will definitely mean is that people will be much more hard-pressed to make ends meet in tough times. Therefore, if their job pays them a lot less than they’re used to, or life throws them one of its little surprises, hitting rock bottom is almost inevitable. Such measures illustrate the importance of voting and having your voice heard.

Presidential Debate...
Last Tuesday, October 7th, the second presidential debate that took place in Belmont University in Nashville attracted over 60 million viewers. Instead of coming to a more firm deliberation on how to improve the well-being of the United States and all of the American citizens who inhabit it, more questions have raised about how exactly these presidential candidates intend to better our obliterated economy. Frequent questions asked about the $700 billion Wall Street bailout were left unanswered. People are upset and even fear that it would not work and are in search of reassurance and a solution. It seems like their main focus is basically to criticize each other in hopes of rounding up a larger number of followers than the other. Their proposed intentions are based on completely irrelevant issues. Let’s take Barak Obama’s stance on payday advance lenders for an instance. He categorized them as “predatory lending”- effectively sanctioning the industry. This is not an issue that is downheartedly affecting our economy. As the real economic problems are ignored, they spend more time finding and using the pettiest affairs to add spice to the banking production.

Payday Loan Issue
Like many Americans who make up that growing class of “disillusioned” voters, I watched the latest “town hall”-style TV debate between Barack Obama and John McCain with my expectations held firmly in check. No matter how many direct questions you ask a politician, regardless of their party affiliation, the answers you receive will resemble generalized sound bites. The New York Times described it as “90 minutes of forced cordiality,” and I must agree. While the exchange was “mercifully free” of personal attacks (according to the Boston Globe), the result was that it was free of much of the tension that makes for compelling television. McCain continued to trumpet experience, his “stay the course” stance on Iraq (seriously, he could have been G.H. Bush’s understudy) and his oil drilling policies. Obama continued to criticize Republican policies that he claims have led America into its current recession. If all were based upon the candidates’ performance here, we’d have no idea exactly how either of them would work to avert pending economic catastrophe. A coherent economic proposal is what America needs. Obama’s stance on “predatory lending” – effectively sanctioning payday advance lenders – is not a coherent solution to the real economic problems we face. That’s just a juicy steak to feed the banking and credit union dogs.

It is easy to get into trouble.......
It is easy to get into trouble if you take a chance on something without being informed, or take action based on faulty information or assumptions. Currently, the pros and cons of Payday Loans are being hotly contested, and just what is in the future for the industry. Some of our leaders, from both sides of the aisle, have even enacted legislation at the state and local levels that makes it difficult to get a payday loan if you need one, and some have banned them outright. Still others, such as Barack Obama, are looking to get rid of the industry altogether; which is based on the idea that payday loan lenders are nothing more than legalized loan sharks, which is just outright faulty logic. This is the time to educate yourself and your friends so all can preserve their right to financial independence.

The sudden need for emergency funds can quickly pop up, and it can happen at any time. Hopefully, you won’t be in a position where you can’t do anything about it. A faxless payda Payday Loans could be just the fix you need. The process is easy and the application is processed immediately, so waiting is a thing of the past. Most lenders are faxless and already online anyway, so you can get the help you need without leaving the home or the office, or maybe even the cubicle. Personalmoneystore.com is the bees’ knees for just this sort of thing.
Payday Loans.......
Many politicians, like Obama are in a quest to limit the American peoples’ access to on demand, short term financial assistance. Some select states are even putting restrictions on where short term loan companies conduct their business and some have even gone as far as to ban the industry all together. While citizens across the nation are fighting legislation that could potentially eliminate the Payday Loans industry, politicians are seeking personal political gain by attempting a complete ban. The politicians should consider the hundreds of thousands of potential lost jobs in an already turbulent economy.
Our Economy
With our economy going into a slump, why is it that political figures are destroying valid financial options? Payday Loans are an essential part of the U.S. financial system, providing loans to those who have bad or no credit that need the money fast. Yet, for one reason or another, legislators are targeting this financial system. Some states, such as Georgia and North Carolina, have even banned the industry all together! The politics behind it is simple; banks are lobbying the legislators to try and destroy their oncoming competition, and the legislators are falling for it. Even taking out the fact that banks are trying to take away your financial choices and freedoms so they can have a monopoly on loans, the corruption of our politics is simply wrong. Our opinions must be heard, and our freedom of choice, financial or not, should not be dampened on the soul fact on one person's financial gain.
The Prime Target!
The payday loan industry has been the prime target for corrupt politicians, from all sides, seeking an increase in voter support at the expense of what’s best for their citizens. Governors of several states including, Georgia, North Carolina, and Oregon completely drove payday loan companies out of their states. The negative effects of driving out payday loan companies from these states, appears to have not been what was best for its’ citizens. For instance, in Georgia, the bankruptcy filings, bounced checks and foreclosures all skyrocketed after the cash advance product was done away with. In spite of these negative statistics, following the closure of payday loans in these states, several other governors continue to try and follow suit. Top national politicians, such as presidential hopeful Barack Obama, are now stepping into the arena in hopes of wiping the industry completely off the map. Should such efforts deem successful, the possibility is very real for increased unemployment rates, more debt, more foreclosures and an even more crippled economy.

Being supplied with the incorrect information can have grave consequences, especially when it results in you making incorrect decisions based on that bad information. There is a battle going on right now on Capital Hill, between law makers who are pro payday loans and those who are anti payday loans. Some of these politicians, have already passed laws restricting payday loans, and are currently pushing to have them outlawed altogether. Some, such as Barack Obama, are seeking to outlaw the industry all together; such laws are put in place to protect the people from getting into financial ruin but in reality it is restricting the people who really need a payday loan from getting one. Stop advertising your lame website.
Yes, uggh, but it looks like Obama wants to pick Kaine
Uggh, I haven't seen a lot of people making the point that www.notwrightforamerica.com has made. The distinction is lost on you apparently, but it is that Obama has decided he WANTS to pick Kaine, he just wonders if it is acceptable, rather than that he is simply vetting Kaine.
Comprende amigo?
Left's lack of grumbling on Kaine tells me he is in
The lack of public grumbling on this tells me Kaine is in, unless some very private conversations have gone on with Obama and leaders on the left that Kaine is unpalatable.
www.notwrightforamerica.com nailed this one. Whether you agree with them or not, they are right on the money with their analysis, and though they don't like Obama they call it like it is.
yes - that is the way trial
yes - that is the way trial balloons work. thank you for explaining the obvious. (I suppose even the nitwits at notwright can succumb to a moment of clarity)
Kaine Trial Balloon
I don't see the far left pitching a fit about Kaine. Kaine holds progressive Catholic values -- meaning that while his faith informs his political positions, he also strives to represent ALL of his constituents, regardless of their faith, and uphold the law.
And sometimes that has meant going against the institutional Church. For example, in 2006 the Church was pushing strongly for a state constitutional amendment banning same sex marriages. The amendment was legally unnecessary, badly written, and so overly broad that it could potentially invalidate any contract gay couples entered into to protect their interests. Gov. Kaine, correctly, encouraged Virginians to vote against this amendment. His support for immigrants in our state is well-known and much appreciated by the Latino community. I believe he struggles inside himself with being a Catholic at the head of a majority pro-death penalty state and also with the abortion issue where his religious beliefs conflict with his legal obligation to uphold "Roe v. Wade". In both, he tries to find alternative ways to minimize both abortions and executions. If the left wants to pitch a fit, they can pick many more suitable targets than Gov. Kaine.
Kaine Trial Balloon--from Not WRIGHT for America
It seems clear that given the amount of leaking on this story, and the fact that Kaine is actually somewhat moderate on some issues, this is a trial balloon.
Obama wants to see if the far left pitches a fit about Kaine. If they do, no Obama-Kaine ticket, if they don't, Kaine is in.
That's from Not WRIGHT for America (www.notwrightforamerica.com), and it makes perfect sense.
