Bromwell begins prison sentence today

Federal Medical Center Devens: BOP PhotoFederal Medical Center Devens: BOP PhotoIn an exclusive, WBAL’s Anne Kramer reports that former state Sen. Thomas Bromwell (D-Baltimore) will begin serving his seven-year prison sentence for racketeering, conspiracy and filing a false tax return.

Bromwell flew to Massachusetts yesterday and will report to the Federal Medical Center Devens this morning.

FMC Devens, approximately 39 miles west of Boston and 20 miles north of Worcester, specializes in male offenders requiring specialized or long-term medical or mental health care. According to WBAL, Bromwell is being housed at Devens due to a heart condition.

Bromwell's wife, Mary Pat, who was also convicted on racketeering charges, is serving her one-year sentence at a prison in West Virginia and will likely be released in January 2009.
