Harris camp not impressed by Kratovil's GOP backers

The congressional campaign of Republican state Sen. Andy Harris wasn't fazed by an announcement Thursday from opponent Frank Kratovil that a pair of Republican county commission presidents had endorsed the Democrat.

One of those endorsers -- Kent County Board of Commissioners President Roy Crow -- is, in the words of Harris spokesman Chris Meekins, a "disgruntled Wayne Gilchrist supporter."

Meekins said Crow has been behind Kratovil since the end of the primary, so his endorsement is not news.

In time, Meekins said, the similarities between Kratovil and Democratic Gov. Martin O'Malley would be enough to cement a victory for Harris.

"The most important endorsement in this race has been Martin O’Malley has endorsed our opponent," Meekins said. "When voters find out that he agrees with O’Malley’s policies of raising taxes and increasing wasteful government spending, they will come running with open arms to support Andy Harris."

Harris and Kratovil are battling for the 1st Congressional District seat currently held by Gilchrist.

Ah, Sarcasm...

(sigh)

When are you Democrats going to learn? Whether it's Tolson here on this board calling people ignorant or stupid, or the DNC putting out talking points casting aspersions on small town life, the mathematics of politics is about ADDITION, not SUBTRACTION!

Now, Tolson, if you don't want people like Shoreman or me to vote Democratic, then just be honest about it. But let's not forget the VAST portion of the Democratic constituency (especially in inner-city Maryland) that falls into just the demographic that you assign Shoreman to.

Ah, Tolson's Back...

And once again, he's back to the old Democratic tactic of trying to woo conservatives by insulting them.

Way to go, Tolson!!!!

HI SHOREMAN!

The content of your post, Shoreman; specifically I refer to its organization and grammatical structure, leads me to the following conclusions:

A) You were unwilling to learn anything about English after the 3rd grade.

B) You were unable to learn anything about English after the 3rd grade.

We've got two choices! You are either lazy or retarded.

Question For You Rollup...

Do you have any idea what the Club for Growth stands for?

08/29/08 8:24 pm

I will take those Republican Eastern Shore Rep's anyday

Way to go! I am so happy those two "little" counties ELECTED OFFICIALS WHO ARE REPUBLICANS have endorsed Mr. Kratovil.
That is music to my ears! I would rather have them than Club for Growth any day of the week. Who will Andy represent? The little people of the Shore, or Club for Growth? So far they have funnelled over $425,000.00 into Andy's campaign and that does not include all the negative ads they bought in the primary. Every time Mr. Kratovil gets another Republican endorsement, he is one step closer to winning. GO FRANK GO! For the people of ths Shore!

Let me get this right...two

Let me get this right...two County elected officials from two out of 3 of the smallest counties on the Shore endorse Frankie and you think that means he's going to win?  What about the several State Senators and Delegates which have endorsed Harris?  You should also note that the Board of Elections position is not an elected position, but appointed...so how much sway will he really have with the voters? Also, is Crow going to influence the 700 voters who care what he thinks? I like Andy's odds with the thousands on the Lower Shore much better.

Shorewoman -

And it is comments like that that make you and the rest of Andy's followers Kool-Aid drinking ostriches.

Continue to ignore the reality. That's cool. That's why Andy will lose, and lose big.

Supporters like you are exactly why Kratovil doesn; stand a chance. All you guys are trying to do is create another O'Malley clone on the Shore. When will you guys learn that we don;t want that. We want a fiscal conservative...no new taxes under any circumstances!!! Go back to PG county with that talk!

Your jealousy of Meekins is

Your jealousy of Meekins is showing again. Let it go - he's WAY out of your league!

After this election Chrissie will be playing ball in the Tundra League.

We should take up a collection for some heated undies for him.

I have no problem with

I have no problem with Kratovil being endorsed by O'Malley, nor do I have a problem by him being endorsed by Republicans Roy Crow, President of the Kent County Board of Commissioners, Jack Cole, President of the Caroline County Board of Commissioners, 91 year old Mrs. Kimberley (of Kimberley-Clark fame) of Easton, a lifelong Republican (and at 91 that is a looooong time) who says "I like Kratovil very much...I don't like this guy Harris."

As long as we're on the subject of endorsements, I'm happy to see Kratovil has the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters, the Sierra Club, the National Education Association Fund for Children and Public Education.

And Harris? He's got big spender Ehrlich (see below), and wingnuts the Club for Growth and the Eagle Forum. I'll take O'Malley any day of the week over any of those sad cases.

No one likes it when taxes get raised. What you guys refuse to acknowledge is that the State budget - which by state law must be balanced - went from $22.98 billion under Ehrlich's first budget to $29.01 billion in his final budget, an increase of 26% in four years. So much for the party of fiscal responsibility. But Ehrlich was simply following the Bush example, the only difference being that the Chinese couldn't bail out Ehrlich the way they bailed out Bush. O'Malley did what he had to do with what he was left. Don't believe for a nanosecond that raising taxes to cover the bloated budget he inherited was his first choice. In Ehrlich's last year alone the budget swelled by over 10%, as he tried to buy his way into a second term in office.

So yes, while I hate paying more in taxes, I'm all for fiscal responsibility. O'Malley's first budget was a 3.5% increase over what Ehrlich left him, a far cry from an average of 6.5% per year during the Ehrlich years. Oh, and how did Ehrlich pay for his budget increases? By pillaging reserves and state "rainy day" funds. I guess he thought Election Day 2006 was going to rain like hell, because he spent a ton of cash on umbrellas.

Johnson, He wouldn't be

Johnson,

He wouldn't be repeating it, if it didn't work. Aren't you embarassed that your candidate is endorsed by our tax-hiking Governor? Or do you agree with O'Malley's policies? Just curious...

Danny: It's Wayne T. Gilchrest

Hope this helps.

Almost September but

Almost September but Chrissie is acting like it's Groundhog's Day.

All that boy can say is "Kratovil and O'Malley."

But like a radio station that plays the same song over and over and over again, the voters in MD-01 are starting to tune out his tired old message, because these same voters are starting to realize that Kratovil has a much wider base and much greater appeal, and Harris/Meekins has a 10 year record to run far away from.

Poor Chrissie thought this race would be his ticket to bigger and better things. And it will be, if you count running a campaign for City Council in Anchorage, Alaska. It is our largest state, y'know.
