Kratovil: Harris is being blatantly dishonest

Democrat Frank Kratovil says his opponent is being blatantly and intentionally dishonest.

Kratovil says two campaign ads released by Republican Andy Harris, are just plain untrue.

One "man on the street" style ad, which hit the airwaves last week, accused Kratovil of being too liberal for the 1st Congressional District.

One man in the ad says Kratovil's "just too liberal" followed by a woman who says "he is a big spender." But the Kratovil campaign points out that the same two people appeared in an earlier ad aimed at Congressman Wayne Gilchrest (R-Kennedyville). Kratovil's camp argues the two people in the ad were calling Gilchrest a liberal and not Kratovil.

Chris Meekins, Harris's campaign manager responded to the charges.

"Every single person in our ad believes Frank Kratovil is a liberal," Meekins told PolitickerMD.com. Meekins declined to comment on whether the people in the ad were talking specifically about Gilchrest, but said "of course" they were consulted.

Another Harris ad, which began airing today, criticized Kratovil for saying the country's economic crisis was solved.

"We solved the crisis, but we don't always do something to solve the issue," Kratovil was quoted as saying in the original version of an Oct. 7 story in The Daily Times.

It's a quote the Kratovil campaign has complained about before, and it says that The Daily Times changed its story.

"As I mentioned in my talk, in this country we often times deal with a crisis, we solve a crisis but we don't always deal with the long term issues that led to the crisis," Kratovil is quoted as saying in the updated version of the story.

But Meekins says the issue is with The Daily Times and not with the Harris campaign.

"That's factually untrue," Meekins told PolitickerMD.com. "We have physical copies of each day's paper since the article is written."

The Kratovil-Harris race is ranked the 53rd most competitive U.S. House race in the nation on Politicker.com's Pindell ReportPoliticker.com's Managing Editor James Pindell lists the race as "Leans Republican."

RE: Susan's comment on Harris / Health Care

Susan,
You're making an excellent point. I personally would like to see Harris answer for his assertions about health insurance tax credits. Many independent analyses seem to indicate that a tax credit-style health care system will end up costing consumers more in the end, all while lining the pockets of big insurance companies? How does he reconcile this belief when we have a health care crisis on our HANDS NOW. In addition to the economic concerns of Harris' health care stance, one must also look at the moral concerns. Elizabeth Edwards (John Edwards' wife) really brought the issue home when she said both her and McCain would have one thing in common in regards to health care: Neither of them would be covered under a tax-rebate style health care system. Dems: 1; Republicans: -1.

Get real anonymous34

You have to be kidding me 34... Are you that far from the real world? The reason Harris can't get things done is because his policy positions are so far out of the galaxy even Rove is shaking his head at Andy. He makes Bush look like Ralph Nader. No thank you I'll take Frank.

On these "Andy Harris is lonely" ads...

Don't we want a congressman who will do what is right even if it means casting a lonely vote? Bills that come through the State Senate and Congress both often have nice names but the devil is always in the details. We don't need another "go along to get along" congressional representative or president. I think we really need Andy Harris who will try to do what is right and stand up even to his own party, rather than what is going to look good.

Misleading recycled TV ads

Misleading recycled TV ads are the only recycling Andy supports.

Why won't Harris take questions from voters?

Why won't Andy Harris take questions from voters in Severna Park? In a recent forum he mentioned that he prefers that citizens buy their own health insurance and use tax credits to help pay for it. Will Harris require coverage by these insurers? Everyone I know without health insurance who could afford to buy it individually cannot because these companies deny coverage. How can we go to a private individual pay plan when none of these politicians have the guts to make the companies offer coverage?

And after years of voting against nearly every Bay related bill, every renewable energy bill and bills to increase fines on polluters, we should trust him to take a leadership role in DC because it's Pennsylvania's fault the bay is polluted? Hypocrisy at its finest.

Harris-Meekins: Why lie, just admit ad is a fraud

If there is any lingering doubt that Dr. Deceit and his henchman, Chris Meekins, are king prevaricators, just check out the links and look for the familiar.

And go to Dr. No's website. He tries to paint Frank as niave, but see the link. The Daily Times corrected there misquote.

It goes to show you nothing Andy Harris says is reliable.

I still am wondering why politickermd hasn't broken the Harris handgun management scandal that has mothers in his neighborhood afraid to let their kids play at the Harris house.

He is not only a liar; he's downright reckless.
