Harris: 'This race is gonna be close'

BALTIMORE -- Republican Andy Harris says his campaign has polls that suggest the 1st Congressional District race is going to be very close.

"The polls are within the margin of error, whether it's his poll, my poll," Harris said Tuesday morning during a speech at a fundraiser for former Del. Al Redmer (R-Baltimore County). "The race is gonna be close nationally and it's gonna be close in the district. There's no question about it."

Harris, a state Senator from Cockeysville, is competing with Democrat Frank Kratovil, the Queen Anne's County state's Attorney, for Maryland's 1st Congressional District seat.

Harris says he's ahead of Kratovil in all of his campaign's internal polls but admitted he "technically" couldn't be certain since some were within the margin of error.

"We have polls that show us up outside the margin of error, and we have polls that show us up inside the margin of error," Harris told PolitickerMD.com.

Yesterday, the Kratovil campaign released an internal poll showing Harris down by 2 points. Last month, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee paid for a poll showing Kratovil and Harris in a dead heat. A poll paid for by the Harris campaign and released over the summer showed Kratovil behind by 16 points.

There have not been any independent polls of the 1st Congressional District race released recently.

The 1st District includes 12 of the 23 counties in the state. The Kratovil-Harris race is ranked the 53rd most competitive U.S. House race in the nation on Politicker.com's Pindell ReportPoliticker.com's Managing Editor James Pindell lists the race as "Leans Republican."

will the club for growth endorse andy for the state senate?

Looks like andy's gonna be up for re-election in state senate district 7 pretty soon.
Wonder where he'll get his money for that?
Its just too bad that his negative campaigning is beginning to backfire on him and will probably tarnish any hopes he has of being re-elected there.

I sure as hell hope so!

Harris paid $6000 for a poll

Harris paid $6000 for a poll on august 25th.

This poll jived with the results of the DCCC poll, which showed a tied race. Needless to say, Meekins derided the DCCC poll, call it "partisan," but would not release the results of their own poll which showed a dead heat.

Why?

So as not to scare away the Club for Growth and others foolish enough to make a contribution to the cesspool that is the Harris campaign.

I don't know who is more done...Andy or Chrissie. One of them needs a fork, though.

Polls

If Harris has polls that show him outside the margin of error why is he not releasing them? I guess we'll find out tomorrow how many disappointing polls he commissioned this quarter.

Andy Harris doesn't know

Andy Harris doesn't know what he is talking about without full disclosure of the questions the poll means nothing.

This is another partisan poll. The Kratovil campaign is running on desperation.

The only poll you can trust is the poll we did back in July that showed us up 16. Anything else is a partisan poll with pollsters who don't know what they are doing.

We are the end all and be all of political polling. Nobody else gets it but us.

HAHAHA

What Andy? But I thought this district would be won "any day of the week and twice on sunday" by any conservative to come out of the primary. I'm glad you are on the ropes you ideology driven fool. Vote for anyone but Harris should be the message here.
