The word on the street is Democrat Frank Kratovil is too liberal and will raise your taxes, according to a new ad from Republican Andy Harris's campaign.
Kratovil, the Queen Anne's County state's Attorney, is currently competing against Harris, a state Senator from Cockeysville, for Maryland's 1st Congressional District seat.
"Kratovil wants to raise taxes and I can't afford any more taxes," says a man in the ad.
"Kratovil's just like O'Malley, more taxes more spending," says another, referring to Maryland's Governor Martin O'Malley.
"We can't afford Kratovil's liberal policies," says a woman, before former Gov. Bob Ehrlich (R-Baltimore) flashes on the screen.
"My Friend Andy Harris, he'll make a great Congressman," says Ehrlich.
The "Man on the Street" style ad is designed to show what average people are saying about Kratovil, according to the Harris campaign.
The Kratovil camp shot back.
"Andy Harris is starting to sound like a broken record," Kevin Lawlor, Kratovil's press secretary, wrote in an email to PolitickerMD.com. "No solutions, no substance, just the same baseless attacks."
The ad is being aired on broadcast and cable television throughout the 1st District, which includes 12 of the 23 counties in the state.
The Kratovil-Harris race is ranked the 52nd most competitive U.S. House race in the nation on Politicker.com's Pindell Report. Politicker.com's Managing Editor James Pindell lists the race as "Leans Republican."

EhrlichDemocratforHarris needs to register as a Republican. He has clearly drank the Kool-Aid.
I am a registered Democrat
I am a registered Democrat that will be voting for Andy Harris. I voted for Ehrlich in 2006, and the last thing we need is another Martin O'Malley in Washington DC.
hahaha
More of the same from Harris, call people names and hope that the electorate is dumb enough to believe him and not the facts... Not this time, we know his is the moderate here, and it's not Harris. The shore is lucky the Dems produced Kratovil, he is a candidate with integrity and that's rare. I will vote for Frank and I have a feeling the majority will too.
Club For Growth: DEREGULATE, DEREGULATE, DEREGULATE
Club For Growth, Harris's main backer and Harris happens to be the Club For Growth numero uno guy in Maryand believes in: DEREGULATE, DEREGULATE, DEREGULATE. Club For Growth believes in DEREGULATE, DEREGULATE, DEREGULATE. Thanks Club For Growth for my retirement disappearing. You greedy SOB's were responsible for Deregulation and some very infectious financial disease called "Credit Default Swap". Check out the Club For Growth website, they believe that SOCIAL SECURITY IS WELFARE FOR THE ELDERLY. The Club For Growth on their home page wants to make Social Security based on individuals investing in the STOCK MARKET. I am 63 years old and thought I was going to retire and now I have to work forever if I can. I have lost a ton of money in my retirement fund and I blame on you greedy bastards from The Club For Growth that believes in DEREGULATION and not in Social Security. I wish all the Club For Growth members a pox for them. Harris is included and completely out of touch for the dire straights of Seniors. Harris go to H*** and do not stop at GO!
