The Maryland Republican Party says Gov. Sarah Palin schooled Sen. Joe Biden during Thursday's vice-presidential debate.
"Governor Palin clearly showed that she is ready to lead as vice-president of the United States," said MDGOP chair Jim Pelura in a statement.
Pelura argues Palin won the debate by "besting Joe Biden" in a handful of policy arenas.
"Senator McCain and Governor Palin have a bi-partisan record of accomplishment that Barack Obama and Joe Biden simply don't have," added Pelura. "John McCain has fought to shake up Washington, D.C. and Sarah Palin has spent her time in office shaking up government in Alaska. Barack Obama has spent his time in office running for president."
But the Maryland Democratic Party's communications director, David Paulson, argues otherwise.
"Platitudes, deflections, and failure to answer simple questions amount to nothing more than a victory in the ‘Same as Bush' category but not much else," Paulson wrote in an email to PolitickerMD.com.
Paulson said Democrats, Republicans, and independents will reject the McCain-Palin ticket for the same reasons they've rejected President Bush.
"Those reasons just became more clear Thursday night," he said.

As we get closer to November
As we get closer to November 4th, the GOP will resort to more desperate claims and distortions as they see power slipping from their hands.
Dr. Pelura will say anything now to look relevant, but Marylanders know this kook is simply trying to save his job as GOP chairman.
Here's the thing, some
Here's the thing, some Republicans will defend their ticket to the end. But, others have abandoned that sinking ship. With more to come.
Regarding the V.P. debate, it's amazing that the major thing being said is that Palin didn't totally screw up. What an accomplishment.
Most polls show Biden won... in substance. Even Fox News reported that. Their words. Palin likable. Biden won in substance.
Wow.
If Pelura wants...
to help McCain-Palin, he should just not say anything at all.
