Republican Jim Mullin is gearing up in his bid for the Cecil County Commission's 1st District seat.
Mullin's just started putting up yard signs on Thursday. He said his strategy would be to go to as many social and community events as he could "along with going door to door and touching as many voters as possible."
Mullin's says he already has about $7,000 in his campaign war chest and will be holding a fundraiser in late September.
A real estate appraiser, Mullin's has never been elected to public office, but ran former Lt. Gov. Michael Steele's (R) Cecil County campaign in his bid for U.S. Senate against now- U.S. Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Baltimore).
The Earleville resident didn't write his opponent off by any means. Democrat Pamela Bailey knocked off John J. Bunnell, Sr. in the primary, who Mullins says had tremendous name recognition.
President of the Cecil County Commission - Democrat William Manlove - currently holds the 1st District seat and will be stepping down in the fall.

mullin for cecil commissioner
Mr. Mullin has no serious opposition in this race. Ms. Bailey only beat Bunnell in the Democratic primary because she was quietly supported by Mr. Mullin's allies as a way to knock off a tougher opponent for the general election. Of course, Bunnell was a fool for underestimating Bailey-- and Mullin's allies-- and failing to run any sort of campaign in the primary.
