Van Hollen calls veep choice hypocrisy

U.S. Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Kensington) says the McCain campaign’s choice of Gov. Sarah Palin (R-Alaska) as a running mate is nothing less than blatant hypocrisy.

“Sarah Palin is an intelligent, well regarded governor of two years and was the mayor of a town of 9,000,” said Van Hollen in a statement.  “However, Senator John McCain has made his candidacy about a single argument – experience and Sarah Pallin doesn’t have it.”

Palin is currently the governor of Alaska and was mayor of the small Alaskan town of Wasilla.

Van Hollen represents Maryland’s 8th Congressional District. He also serves as chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

Experience vs. Judgment

U.S. Rep. Chris Van Hollen's observation is on target. McNasty ducked questions about his familiarity with the economy, saying his experience in getting shot down translated into executive command experience.

Ok. He actually was claiming that he was older and that made him the better candidate. He was planning to shack up with his advisor on financial affairs to get a full briefing.

Ok. One of the jobs of a good executive is to create a solid backup that can handle things in his absence. McNasty has failed the executive talent evaluation test, the one Obama passed with flying colors.

Chris... Nice try

Nice try of wishing to take experience off of the table...

we're voting for the top of the ticket...and Obama for sure does not have the experience to be president...

Van Hollen... the only reason you're in office would be that nice "D" next to your name... your lobbying career really qualifies you to be a United States Congressman... right?!

so you're the last person that should be talking about experience and hypocrisy

Is Gov. Palin really lacking

Is Gov. Palin really lacking experience? She has served as a small business owner, mother of five (including a soldier in Iraq), ethics chairman, city council member, smalltown mayor and Governor. If anything, it sounds like a more diverse background then "went to law school and then became a Senator."

Joe Biden is the epitomy of a Washington insider. His son Hunter is even a lobbyist in DC for the University of Delaware. The perfect example of Biden's Washington-insider profile was when he accepted $200,000 from the MBNA credit card company in 2005 before voting in favor and supporting the 2005 Bankruptcy Prevention Act (made it harder for people to get a bankruptcy). Is this the kind of experience people want?

The reality is for Barack Obama or his surrogates like silver spoon Steny (uh has he ever held a real job in his life?) to criticize Palin over experience should instantly raise questions of Barack's experience! Barack's first year as a state senator was 1997 (elected in Nov 96 electons) about 11 years ago. Sarah Palin won her first city council race in 1992, four years before Barack Obama even ran for office. So if we're talking experience and time in, then Palin's been in elected office LONGER than Obama. Gee Steny, does the cat have your tongue on that one?

porky

Vanhollen is just paranoid that his pork chops are about to be fried by a couple of reform minded Republicans.
We know what American Values are, and unlike you Mr #3 on the pork list, we dont need poll testers to tell us what they are!

doesn't anyone get it?

Van Hollen is a loser... No one outside of Maryland politics cares what he thinks ... he does what Nancy tells him to do.

Palin

Uhh, Van Hollen. The BIG difference is Palin is the VP NOT the TOP of the ticket.
MANY vp choices are lacking in the experience department. They are groomed for the Presidency AFTER 2 terms in office.
She is EVERYTHING Obama was saying he wanted in a candidate. An outsider, young, fresh ideas, intelligent. And he picks an old white INSIDER who has spent more than HALF his life in DC. That is NOT change.
