Comptroller Peter Franchot at the J. Miller Tawes Crab and Clam Bake: Politicker PhotoCRISFIELD - Comptroller Peter Franchot's wish came true today at the J. Miller Tawes Crab and Clam Bake. Franchot, who had to attend a mandatory Board of Public Works meeting in Annapolis Wednesday, was uncertain if he would make it to the festival. However, by testing the speed limit, Franchot was able to make a last minute appearance at the annual event.
"I got out of the BPW meeting and came down to the real Maryland," Franchot (D-Takoma Park) said in an interview with PolitickerMD.com. "Love the clambake. Former comptroller - Comptroller Tawes. I understand he was governor and that was a good job, but he promoted himself to be comptroller I think."
Franchot told PolitickerMD.com, that in order to make it, "We drove a little bit over the speed limit ... but not much."
And his favorite Tawes snack?
"The crabs once I get my hands on ‘em," Franchot said. "I'm not allowed to shake hands with anybody because I look and smell of crab."
