Pelura: Harris, not Kratovil ‘will be bring the refreshing change people desire in Washington’

“Voters clearly are not happy with the liberal Democrats who control Congress,” said state GOP Chairman James Pelura in a statement. “A vote for Kratovil is a vote to send yet another liberal Democrat to Washington.”

Pelura continued: “Frank Kratovil will support the values of Liberal Democrats, not the voters in the 1st Congressional District,” adding that “Kratovil is clearly part of the status quo.”

The state GOP Chairman concluded by praising state Sen. Andy Harris (R-Cockeysville).

“Andy Harris will be bring the refreshing change people desire in Washington,” he said.

David Paulson, the state Democratic Party’s communications director responded in an email to PolitickerMD.com.

“The people know Frank Kratovil will represent Maryland’s 1st District with fierce and effective independence. Frank has already proven his appeal to Republicans and Independents and they see a leader who listens, respects and represents their views. We need more of that, not less,” Paulson wrote.

“The Republican Party knows that their only chance in November is to burn enough BIG OIL so the polluting smoke screen will hide Andy Harris’ extremist agenda,” added Paulson. “It’s an agenda that has nothing to do with the interests of working families on Maryland’s Eastern or Western Shores.”

State's Attorney Frank Kratovil (D-Stevensville) and Andy Harris are currently competing for Maryland's 1st Congressional District seat. The race is seen by some observers as one of the most competitive in the country. MD-1 includes 12 of the 24 counties in the state, which encompasses all of the Eastern Shore and portions of Harford and Baltimore counties

re:Big Oil

The money the government makes from the gas tax goes for paving the roads, while big oil's profits lines the pockets of their millionaire executives as a reward for driving us all to the poorhouse.  I would rather fund the former than the latter...

Thoughts from an Eastern Shore Republican

Sorry, but because the Republicans voted out Gilchrest, my vote goes to Kratovil. I'm not voting for anyone who runs on a platform based on an irrational fear/focus on illegal immigration when we have so many other more pressing problems on our hands.

Incredulous - Don't be

Incredulous -

Don't be silly, Frank Kratovil's plan is the same as Martin O'Malley's plan. Raise taxes until you kill economic growth...and when that happens, people will have no choice but to turn toward big Government for the solutions. His environmental extremist financial backers in Prince George's County and Annapolis expect nothing less.

Big Oil

There comes the boogeyman again for the Dems, "BIG OIL". What about big government which makes more off a gallon of gas than the oil companies do?

What's Kratovil's plan for fixing the gas crisis...his plan apparently consists of demonizing Harris and calling him names.
