State party leaders prepare for Democratic National Convention

State Democratic Party leaders will be in Denver on Friday for a day-long Democratic National Convention walkthrough. Party Chair Michael Cryor, Executive Director Quincey Gamble and Finance Director Sue Levitan will tour the Pepsi Center from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. with their respective counterparts from all 50 states.

“We're fine tuning convention planning and more importantly working on the integration of the Obama campaign and the state party efforts,” said Gamble, in an email to PolitickerMD.com.

“We have been meeting with Obama representatives who are committed to a strong state campaign that will deliver an historic Democratic victory in Maryland for Obama and our congressional candidates,” he said. “The organizing we are doing now, led by Senator Obama, is making our state party stronger and preparing us for ’08, 2010 and beyond. This year in particular, the Maryland Democratic Party continues to grow in every way possible as we have for the last six years in a row.”

The 2008 Democratic National Convention will be held in Denver, Colorado from August 25 through the 28.

PolitickerMD.com will offer on-site coverage of both the Democratic convention and Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minn.
