Silver Spring, Maryland (July 22nd, 2008) - The Gordon Clark congressional campaign today reported $13,334 in contributions, $11,052 in disbursements, and $2,781 cash on hand through the end of the 2nd quarter Federal Election Commission reporting period ending June 30th, 2008, according to campaign manager David Gaines. Adjusting for candidates’ contributions to themselves, these totals put Clark’s fundraising at the top of 3rd party-nominated congressional campaigns nationwide and even ahead of some senate campaigns.
Significantly, the cash on hand amount is just slightly under that reported by one of Clark’s major party opponents, Republican Steve Hudson, while the debt reported by the Clark campaign is less than half that reported by the Hudson campaign.
“We are very pleased with our fundraising efforts to date,” said Gaines, “especially considering the fact that Gordon Clark does not accept any contributions from corporate or organizational PAC’s – only from individuals. As word about Gordon’s pro-peace, pro-sustainability, pro-social justice stands on the issues spreads, we fully expect our fundraising to increase accordingly. The enthusiastic reception we’ve received so far from contributors tells us that Gordon Clark is the leading alternative with the most momentum in Maryland’s 8th district.”
